English as a Second Language - CPE - Reading & Use of English - Part 6 - Peanut Butter Production Process - Paragraph Sequencing - Worksheet

The topic on my social media accounts this week has been "nuts". The emphasis has been on the names of some common edible nuts and idioms that mention the word "nuts". In keeping with the theme I have prepared a CPE resource that enables learners to practise the skills needed for part 6 of the Reading & Use of English paper. This part of the exam focuses on sequencing and text structure. Students need to be able to identify discourse markers, lexical and grammatical features that identify the correct order of paragraphs in a long text.

In the worksheet I have prepared about peanut butter production, students begin by reading the paragraphs which out of order and summarising what each paragraph is about. Step two requires the students to underline the grammatical and lexical features that indicate the correct order of the paragraphs. The final task involves students identifying the correct sequence of the paragraphs so that they flow logically and coherently. There are two versions, one without the answer key and one that includes the answer key.
